Italian School of Vine Pruning

Simonit&Sirch Preparatori d'Uva

After a long phase of experimentation for ca. 20 years (since 1988), the Friulian agronomists started in 2005 to teach the method of ‘branched’ pruning to important wineries on a national level. Gaja in Barbaresco, Ferrari in Trentino, Bellavista in Franciacorta, are some of the big names in the Italian world of wine to have introduced the new pruning technique to their viticultural guidelines.

The project of Simonit&Sirch to provide a certain longevity to the vines, has been lifted to the next level with the introduction of the new permanent ‘ITALIAN SCHOOL OF VINE PRUNING’, driven by the aim to revaluate and reconsider ancient arts and professions. Unique in its field, not only in Italy but also on an International basis, the school is a centre of permanent education with courses organized in partnership with important research centres and universities (the Research Centre of Laimburg in Alto Adige, the University of Gastronomic Science of Pollenzo and Slow Food in Piemonte, the Centre of Viticultural and Oenological Research and Instruction of Cormòns, the University of Agronomics of Udine in Friuli Venezia Giulia, the Tuitional Centre Enzo Morganti in Castelnuovo Berardenga/Toscana, Terra Moretti in Franciacorta)in the most representative Italian wine-producing regions: Piedmont, Lombardy, Trentino Alto Adige, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Toscana and Campania.

A circulating school, which courses are accessible for all associates of a winery (directors, technicians, workers etc.) but also for students, or simply wine lovers and other interested parties.
